Pienaar encouraged young school kids who were part of the audience to play sports as it helps building and healing the Nation, referring to his 1995 experience of seeing a diverse fan base for the springbok's team. This also brings about opportunity for both players and coaches to showcase their talent, said Pienaar.

Roux said, broadening of rugby is foremost in their planning, focusing on the competition that would entail everybody, referring to club and school rugby. The Varsity Shield Launch concluded with a quick tour of the Liberation Archives.
