UFH Alumnus heads legal services in Northern Cape


Brigadier Linda Mbana has taken over as the new provincial head of police legal services. Prior to the appointment, Mbana was a senior legal administrative officer in the Gauteng department of education.She was born and raised in Idutywa in the Eastern Cape and matriculated at Vuli Valley High School in Butterworth. Mbana studied at the University of Fort Hare where she obtained a bachelor of law (LLB) degree.

Her research project focused on the role of forensic medicine in the conviction of sex offenders. She has a certificate of admission as an advocate, and a certificate of admission as an attorney. Mbana started off as a researcher for the judge president of the land claims court.

She said while the schedule may be demanding, she still manages to spend time with her loved ones, work out at the gym, go bungee jumping, relax at a spa and attend church. "Mbana is no stranger to the legal environment as she is an advocate by profession," said police spokesperson, Capt Cherelle Ehlers.
