  •  At the 11th Sport for All Congress in 2006. A paper presented by the WHO titled "Physical activity: Benefits and challenges" reported that in 60% of global death were caused by inactivity and that the figure will rise to 73% by the year 2020. It also stated that 60% of the world population is not active enough to gain health benefits.
  • At the World Health Assembly (2004), it was highlighted that another aim was to strengthen the human resources needed in this domain to enhance and sustain health. (Fifty-seventh world health assembly, agenda item 12.6, 2004:7)
